Customer Review: Love It, Love It, Love, It!

This fan approaches air-conditioning in its cooling capacity in my eyes, and I'm known as the one who's always turning the temperature towards "Arctic" on our thermostat! It's sound lulls me to sleep with memories of sleeping under an enormous GE oscillating floor fan made of steel back in the 1960's before air-conditioning was everywhere. And on top of it all, it's beautiful. I own two and am thinking of buying a third for yet another room in my house. I wouldn't live in Georgia without it.
Description of Vornado FA1-0003-13 Silver Swan Fan
The original Silver Swan fan blade was not only visually striking, but also a good air mover. In its day it was known for its quietness as well. Working with this classic as inspiration, Vornado's designers have created not a reproduction per se, but a genuinely new design with the appeal of an antique. It features the bullet nose blade hub with overlapping elephant ear paddles that were original to the 1934 model. Integrating elements from several Deco period style movements a new fan was born which is characterized by a stream-lined Machine Age design.With its shiny body and blades and its black fan cage, this portable fan is as retro-hot as it is room-cooling. The blades' striking bullet-nose hub is based on a 1934 Art Deco design, the 72-watt motor's cooling vents resemble an old-time microphone's, and the brushed-chrome base is sculpted into a beautiful form. Contemporary features include deep-pitch, quiet blades, three-speed control, oscillation control, tilt adjustment, and a built-in handle for moving from room to room. Made of die-cast metal, the fan is heavy and sturdy, stands 18 inches high, and has a 14-inch-diameter head. --Fred Brack
